Dear Members,

Let us begin with the 2nd lesson.

Before going into the deep of any software it is essential to get familiar with the desktop of the software. Photoshop comes up with fairly simple desktop with menus, option bar, toolbox and palettes.
Every thing can be placed and adjusted according to our own convenience and requirement.

When you start with the Photoshop, palettes are situated towards right side by default. From the top you will see, Navigator, Color and Layer palette. There are more within these palettes. These can be removed and brought back again.

Left side is occupied by Toolbox. Top portion is covered with Title bar, Menus and Option bar.

Today in the practical session we are going to play around the desktop of Photoshop and get familiar with Photoshop environment.

Practical:

Open Photoshop.

Window > Hide Tools (Toolbox disappeared).

Window > Show Tools (To get the Toolbox back).

Similarly, hide and bring back components on the desktop.

Press and drag the top blue bar with mouse and move Toolbox around the desktop.

Window > Hide Options (Option Bar disappeared).

Window > Show Options (To get the Option Bar back).

Go to Layer Palette. Click and drag the History palette. It comes out.

Again drag it back to Layer palette. It sticks back like magnetic action.

Click on the blue bars of the palettes. Drag and move them around the desktop.

Hello,

Let us begin with the 1st lesson.

Before going into the deep of any software it is essential to get familiar with the desktop of the software. Photoshop comes up with fairly simple desktop with menus, option bar, toolbox and palettes. Every thing can be placed and adjusted according to our own
convenience and requirement.

1. Open Photoshop.
2. Window > Hide Tools (Toolbox disappeared).
3. Window > Show Tools (To get the Toolbox back).
4. Similarly, hide and bring back components on the desktop.
5. Press and drag the top blue bar with mouse and move Toolbox
around the desktop.
6. Window > Hide Options (Option Bar disappeared).
7. Window > Show Options (To get the Option Bar back).
8. Go to Layer Palette. Click and drag the History palette. It
comes out.
9. Again drag it back to Layer palette. It sticks back like
magnetic action.
10. Click on the blue bars of the palettes. Drag and move them
around the desktop.

We are going to start with the Photoshop Painting & Drawing in the next lesson.

With regards

Photoshop is mainly used for image processing that includes photo retouching, editing, applying special effects etc. Digital image is made up of pixels and these pixels can be selected, colored and edited separately in Photoshop. Photoshop is a raster program where all the operations are based on the pixels hence it is the most suitable program for image processing. You do not really require artistic background to learn Photoshop. It comes up with its own tools and commands making it easy to draw, edit and retouch the images. If you have artistic background it will be definitely useful but it’s not at all essential. Photoshop can be used for photo retouching as well as creating the artwork from the scratch. It is also used as a useful tool for making backgrounds and materials for animation softwares. Web graphics is another wide area where it is exclusively used.
